Flygirl is a member of the www.overbergparaglidingclub.co.za in Cape Town, South Africa. The Overberg Paragliding Club is the most active and consequently the biggest paragliding club in the Western Cape. I have always likened the Overberg to 'rough diamonds' as the membership is extremely diverse ... and yet they blend so well with one another socially, on take off and in the air. Prospective members introduced to the Overberg Paragliding Club for the first time, often remark on how welcome they feel and quickly find themselves with several telephone numbers and future flying plans. The Overberg has several active 'old bullets' who regularly pass on their knowledge of sites, comps and flying techniques to those who wish to learn something new. You are always welcome to accompany them to fly cross country - just let them know you are coming :-) Greg Hamerton - the Keeper of the Cross Country Log moved to the UK in April 2008 so not sure who will be taking over in his absence. This is what we had whilst he was in Cape Town: Which leads me to the Cross Country Log. For those who like to test themselves against the likes of Hammer, Tickbird and The Red Baron, the Overberg keeps a record of your 6 best flights and each month posts them to the Overberg Paragliding website. I copy them here to the Flygirl website for easy reading as I am one of those snots who likes to keep the 'old bullets' sweating :-) At present, they are all busy trying to bend the rules and find ways to take the leader down! The log is run by SouthAfrica's guru, Greg 'Hammer' Hamerton. For more information on Hammer, his epic flights and Site Guide, go to www.eternitypress.co.za Many of the Overberg Members also like to pit their skill or just keep a log book of their flights on the Leonardo On line Contest.
