Flygirl in Europe, 2007. I have registered and paid my entry fee for the 1-8 September XC OPEN in Piedrahita, Spain. YAHOO!!!! :-) Gosh, I am so looking forward to this second leg! And also the Czech Open 7-13 July 2007 in Italy.

But I want to see more of the European flying Sites so for my first venture into European flying, I am going on the Cloudbase Paragliding Tour 28 July - 25 August 2007 and visiting Austria, Italy and Switzerland. That leaves me a few days to free fly in Piedrahita before the comp.

But here is more about the Cloudbase European tour:

This years dates are 28th July (last weekend of the month) till the 25th August 2007.
Yes it is a whole month, but you can join us for as short or for as long as you like according to your budget or your time restraints.

We give you a daily 'all inclusive' rate in Euro's so you have no nasty surprises and helps you fine tune your budget.
We have streamlined our tour over the years to give you maximum airtime, a chance to relax and if you want, to do the tourist route, all at a reasonable price.

Our tried and tested formula of staying in a region for at least 5 days also allows you to join us at any stage of the tour via Intercity trains from most major Airports.

The tour starts off in Austria in the Stubai Valley 20 minutes from Innsbruck.
The choice of 2 launch sites served by cable car. The easiest is a 8 minute cable car ride to a 1000m height difference launch at the Elfer (1800m ASL).

Or the preferred early morning site of Kreuzjoch (2125m ASL) This offers great flying for all levels of experience and the locals are regularly doing 50 Km triangles!! We stay in a luxury self catering apartment a short walk from the landing field and the town centre with local pubs.

From the 3rd to the 5th we offer a SIV course at Achensee ( home of Mad Mike Kung), in conjunction with Eki Maute. For those who do not want to participate, this region also offers some stunning flights.

Then it is off to Italy on the evening of the 5th, Bassanno to be precise, on the foothills of the Alps with Venice only 70 km away.We stay in a typical Italian Albergo with the famous Monte Grappa a 20 minute drive up those narrow windy roads! There are another 4 launch sites close by to ensure almost daily flying with good XC potential. The famous town of Bassanno is a sure tourist thing that has to be done as well as a trip to Venice.

After an early morning flight on Friday the 10th we head off to Verbier in Switzerland and into the high Alps again.
All launches are above 2000m ASL with the main landing field in the Valley at 875m ASL.
Here we have the optional Helicopter trip to Petit Combin for a launch in the snow from 3674 m ASL.
Verbier hosted the World championships in 1993 and the flying experiences here are awesome.
We also have so traditional Swiss activities planned as well.

The last week is spent in Grindelwald, in front of the North Face of the Eiger. The most used launch site is First at 2125 m ASL. The landing at Grund is at 974m ASL and is 3 Km away. Very easy transport system in the whole valley so to do XC is great with good retrieve. There is also the spectacular Waterfall flight in Murren as well as the possibility to fly from Shilthorn at 2995m ASL. So a real Swiss way to end our Alpine tour.
