 Glen Paragliding Club Meeting

So I made the Glen meeting and it was very pleasant to meet up with about 15-20 people.  Sure, half that number were Overberg Members, but it is a start.

Pete Wallenda gave us a slide show on his latest trip to Europe and flying in the Alps.  Tobias Gress, our loyal Overberg Member from Germany/Switzerland was there - he is in South Africa for 3 weeks for study and maybe a bit of flying.  I really hope the Glen Members will revive their club.  We need the competition for the next Gatskop in October :-)

And thanks to the guys and gals who bought raffle tickets!  Each ticket pays for my Hostel accommodation in Spain and retrieve, so muchas gracias, muchachos!  (Hope that is right :-)

Laurent Paulus of the Glen Paragliding Club is inviting everyone to a social get together on Wednesday 6th August @ 19h00 ish.

Why not pop down for a drink and see what the best positioned club in the whole of South Africa is doing with its resources. The Glen is between Clifton and Camps Bay Beach and has a take off above it and the landing in front of it!

Previous Postings earlier in the year - not applicable to the meeting above:

FLYGIRL: Oh dear - the Glen resurgence has hit a glitch - their Club House is not available for Fridays BBB and so the Braai on the 4/4/08 has been CANCELLED.

From Laurent Paulus.  (Laurent is one of the Youngbloods from the Glen. Laurnet, Karen Ralph and Mike Pace are together trying to turn the club around and make it strong again.  Your support of their efforts would help tremendously)

Hello Everyone

All Pilots are invited to this Months Club Meeting and Weekend Flying:

We are planning to have our club meeting this Friday evening 4th April at the Glen Country Club, next door to La Med, between Clifton and Camps Bay. However we will only get confirmation from the club tomorrow for use of the premises. We will send you confirmation thereof soonest :-)

The plans so far are as follows:

FRIDAY 04/04/2008 is BBB day

Bring a Buddy and Braai. Fires will be lit around 18h30. Yes that's right - bring your buddy, wife, girlfriend - someone else's if you don't have one :-)

IF the weather allows, we hope to get a fly in as well from Lion's Head. So make sure your glider is packed in your car - Rob Smith please take note :-)

Acro Pilots - if you want to dazzle us with some amazing spiral dives, SAT or loops etc etc.
Regular Pilots - just go enjoy the flight and the awesome views
Students - Good time to get some Ground Handling in.
Pete Wallendar will also bring some Paragliding paraphernalia to demo.
If any of you have some music you want to play - bring that along too.
Anyone with a good portable hifi / ghetto blaster????

Weekend
Pete is planning to go  to Porterville. He will be booking a chalet for himself at Laatson, just outside Porterville. He will be taking students for
another weekend of awesome flying.  If anybody wants to join, please contact Pete. Pete will be monitoring the weather, and perhaps we might get one last Flycast from Greg before he departs for the UK

Now for

Plan B
IF we cannot get the use of the Glen Country Club Facilities on Friday, Pete suggests that we have a Bring and Braai at Laatson ( Porterville ) instead. So for now, just keep this as a thought in the back of your mind until we have confirmation.

Thanks - see you there
The Glen Team
