Michele Baptist has died

I admired Michele's flying exploits from afar, but only chatted with her once towards the end of last year.

Now I regret not having gotten to know her better.....

... but now is too late.

Michele told me she identified with this quote ...

She lived ... and she died .. by it

Fellow pilots,

It is with shock and regret that I bring to you the news of the death of Michele Baptist.  Michele took her own life with a single shot to the head on Tuesday 9 June around 5pm.

Michele was a very successful competition pilot and had recently turned her focus to gliding.  She was colourful person and her absence from our small community will be strongly felt.  Michele's partners, Rod Harris, is at home and has friends staying and visiting regularly.  Michele's son and daughter have been contacted and a service will be organised soon.
