A passion for long distance paragliding

I love the freedom to fly as far as I can, for as long as I can, following the wind, aligning with the elements.  I fly for the incredible views, for discovery, for the way flying connects me to Myself and to the Universe.

This is a far cry from the days when I was South Africa's first female full contact kick-boxer in the early 1990's.

Kickboxing photos and news articles.

Some of those traits that made me South African Champion still plague me today.  I want to win.  I want to obliterate the competition, I want to have the best longest distance flight of the day.

This is a terrible cross to bare :-) In competition there can only be  one winner.

In 2010 I came to realise that I do not have what it takes to be a race pilot.  It was a frustrating and depressing experience. I had no fun!

So I am staying with long distance flying and enjoying the XC Open World Series competitions were I flourish.  I need the freedom to go with the wind, fly with the birds ... and connect with it all.

It's a lifestyle...

People ask how is that I can travel for so long .... The answer is, there is always a compromise.  Ultimately, travelling keeps me happy.  Should I one day find something else to satisfy this need,  then I will make the change.  In the meantime liquidate all that I have in order to feel free.
